Ojai (pronounced O-Hi) is a small town located about 15 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean just north of the city of Ventura California. It has been the site of a number of movie and television shoots because of its California Spanish architecture. As you can imagine there are many interesting places to photograph in and around this charming village.
What I like about this image is the thought the photographer put into the set up. He was facing the difficulty of capturing the snow on the distant mountains and some features of the town without the more distracting elements of civilization such as cars, telephone lines, etc. He did this by finding a location where most of these could be masked by vegetation. The large bolder is interesting in its relative size and importance to the building. It acts as a leading line because of the shape and the dark color compared to the structure.
The sky has little detail or color and the photographer may wish to crop out as much of it as possible while leaving some room for the tallest mountain. The photographer has done a good job hiding most of the modern elements but could use a little computer cloning to remove a few more such as light posts, telephone line and poles.

Hi Jim, thank you for the critique. My goal was to capture the snow on the mountains and a part of the town that would identify it, but have no distracting elements like cars.
