Guggenheim Glass

Guggenheim GlassArchitecture is art, good or bad it is art.  Sculptures we inhabit.  The photographer has many options when capturing this form of art work in their camera; all the way from record shots in order to interest a prospective buyer to interpretations of the soul of the building.  So we must consider how the image is to be used and who is the target viewer.  In our case we are looking for the photo-artist’s interpretation.

This submission defiantly falls on the photo-artist side of the ledger.  We see the work of one who is not satisfied with just recording someone else’s artwork but wants to create art of their own.  This graphic exudes overwhelming power and strength.  The monotone colors and off kilter perspective says this is a structure to be reckoned with and not just taken for granted.

On the whimsical side this image reminds me of the SIFI move ‘Transformers’.  You almost get the feeling that this building is coming after you.

  1. This image was made at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilboa, Spain. After viewing the fantastic building from the inside, we went outside to one of the entrys. My wife told to look back at the building we just left, and I was surprised by what I saw.

Sometimes, we are so interested in looking forward as we walk, that we miss seeing what was behind us.

So, now, I always look 360 degrees from where I am standing to make sure of what is possible.

  2. I knew this was yours the second I looked at it.
WOW! Al amazing work you do. This is outstanding.

  3. What a wonderful architecture or abstract photo. My only suggestion would be to crop just a little from the top and bottom to line up the diagonal line better with the corners and to eliminate the dark structure in the top left as it is for me a little distraction. I like the color tone and the much detail in the photo. Almost like every time you look at it there is something else to spot, like the two person inside the building on the bridge..

  4. Wow I missed the two people.
