Duck Reflection
When does an ordinary animal picture become more that ordinary? What does it take to push it into something more? You need something of interest beside the species or quietness of the model. This can be accomplished by the lighting, the environment or perhaps by the creature’s interrelation with his surrounding or the photographer. Otherwise it can just turn into a record shot.
This is a tranquil and pleasing illustration. The exposure is excellent and the composition well thought out. What at first looks like just another duck picture with a little study becomes a very pleasing image.

Thank you for reviewing this photo! It was taken at the Los Angeles Arboretum in Arcadia, CA, a beautiful place to wander about and take photos. What caught my eye, outside of the fascinating reflections, was the unusual topknot of feathers on this duck’s head. He appeared to be the only one with a “hairdo”.

I have seen a lot of mallards but never one with this arrangement of feathers on his head..makes it very interesting to me. The reflections in the water are
marvelous..good job.

The clear focus that the duck is caputred in is a beautiful contrast the the natural blur caused by the water. It is so abstract, yet so clear. Excellent job on this photo.
