Tear Drop, Monument Valley
We have all seen wonderful images that we say to ourselves “Boy, if I could only find that location I would like to take the same photo.” When we get there something is different; lighting conditions are not the same, something in the original scene is no longer there or something has been added that was not there when the original photograph was taken. And worst of all there truly is only one way to shoot the subject.
This photograph is well executed but it’s been done. You have knowingly or unknowingly followed in the footsteps of giants. Originally I saw this image on the cover of a David Muench book ‘Nature’s America’ about fifteen years ago. Since then a number of people I know have photographed at this exact spot. I will note that in the Muench image there is a different mesa arrangement in the distance.

Thank you.
This was the first time I’ve ever been to Mounment Valley and I can’t remember where I would have seen this photo before, but I did ask the guide to make sure he took us there.
Knowingly or unknowgly following in the footsteps of giants is Ok with me as long as I can experience the feeling of being there.
Again thank you

I think this is a beautiful image. It is something I would put in an art museum with no second thoughts.
Normally when I comment on a picutre I start off with saying something nice then critique then finish with something nice. This image left me so happy that I don’t acutally have anything to critique. This has to be one of the nicer photos I have seen in a good while.

Simply gorgeous! I love the vertical format. You even had a blessing of beautiful light cascading across the land. Gallery work!
